NDLEA Arrests Young Musician, Discovers Secret Drug Factory in Lagos
In a fresh anti-drug operation, NDLEA arrests Lagos-based artist “Steady Boy” and uncovers a secret laboratory producing synthetic drugs in Ajao Estate.

The story of a young musician turned suspect is making headlines again, this time involving the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Lagos-based artist Godspower George Osahenrumwen, better known by his stage name Steady Boy, has been arrested for allegedly trying to receive a drug shipment from the United States.
But the real shock came when the agency uncovered a hidden drug laboratory in the city — a discovery that has stirred new conversations about how far illegal drug networks are spreading into urban communities.
The Arrest That Sparked Attention
NDLEA officials say Steady Boy, just 20 years old, was picked up in Lekki, Lagos, after showing up to claim a parcel that had been tracked to him from the U.S.
What appeared to be a shipment of bath items turned out to be 140 bags of a high-grade cannabis variant known locally as “Loud.”
Investigators believe the artist was working with his manager, known in entertainment circles as Zee Money, who is now on the run. The NDLEA says the arrest followed weeks of intelligence gathering around imported drug parcels arriving through Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The case has drawn public interest not only because of the quantity involved — over 77 kilograms — but also because of the growing pattern of entertainers getting caught up in drug trafficking rings.
Discovery of a Hidden Drug Factory
While the musician’s arrest made headlines, NDLEA operatives also uncovered something even more alarming — an illicit drug manufacturing setup tucked away inside a residential area in Ajao Estate, Lagos.
The agency described the location as a clandestine lab producing large quantities of synthetic marijuana (popularly called Colorado or Colos). Inside the apartment, officers found freshly processed substances, chemical solvents, and industrial quantities of raw materials used for drug production.
A suspect believed to own the lab has been arrested. NDLEA says this discovery confirms the emergence of local drug production networks, a disturbing trend in a city already battling substance abuse among youths.
Beyond Lagos: A Nationwide Crackdown
In recent weeks, NDLEA has stepped up its enforcement across several states — from Kaduna to Ondo, Edo, and Ogun — targeting major supply routes.
Hundreds of kilograms of cannabis, tramadol, and methamphetamine were seized, while several suspects were taken into custody.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd.) praised his officers for their “tireless work” and vowed to keep dismantling cartels no matter their disguise.
He warned that the agency will continue to trace drug operations “from street pushers to white-collar operators” in every part of the country.
The Bigger Picture
While arrests and seizures continue, experts are warning that Nigeria’s drug challenge has shifted beyond street sales — it’s now a complex web involving music, nightlife, and digital trade.
Some young entertainers are being exploited by traffickers who use them for packaging and logistics under the guise of career sponsorship.
The NDLEA says it is expanding its youth engagement programs to discourage drug use and strengthen awareness in the creative industry. “The battle against drugs,” one officer noted, “is not just about arrests — it’s about prevention, education, and saving lives.”
The arrest of Steady Boy and the discovery of a secret drug lab in Lagos paint a worrying picture of how deep the drug problem runs. Yet, it also shows that the NDLEA’s surveillance system is working.
As the agency continues to tighten its operations, the message is becoming clearer: Nigeria’s new generation must choose creativity over crime — because talent should be a blessing, not a headline.
