🎯 Fayose Congratulates New PDP Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, Calls for Unity and Urgent Reforms
Former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose congratulates PDP’s new Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, urging him to restore unity, fairness, and direction to the troubled party.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has congratulated the newly appointed Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, describing his emergence as a timely opportunity to heal divisions and rebuild confidence within the crisis-ridden opposition party.
Fayose, in a statement issued on Saturday, said the PDP could not afford further internal wrangling at a time when Nigerians were seeking credible leadership alternatives. He urged Abdulrahman to make unity, fairness, and internal reconciliation his top priorities as he steps into the party’s leadership.
“I congratulate the new chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman. I urge him to unite the party and restore confidence in its members,” Fayose said.
The new Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, who also holds the traditional title of Sadaunan Takushara, assumed leadership following the suspension of Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum amid deepening factional tensions within the PDP.
Fayose emphasized that Abdulrahman’s leadership should mark a turning point for the party, especially after what he described as “a season of internal injustice and manipulation.”
“Most importantly, he should look into the shenanigans and injustice done in states like Ekiti and others, with a view to correcting them in accordance with the party constitution and existing court pronouncements,” he added.
The outspoken former governor further advised the new chairman to embrace inclusiveness, warning that the PDP risked political irrelevance if its internal divisions were not urgently resolved.
“He should also be a team player and ensure the emergence of a new National Working Committee through a valid National Convention. This must happen after outstanding congresses in states and zones are concluded and those done against court judgments revisited,” Fayose stated.
With the PDP’s leadership now split between rival camps, Abdulrahman’s appointment is expected to shape the direction of the party’s reconciliation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections. Political observers say his immediate challenge will be to stabilize the National Working Committee and win back confidence from aggrieved members across the states.
Fayose’s message reflects a wider call from within the PDP for reform, justice, and restoration of trust. Whether Abdulrahman can successfully navigate the turbulence remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — the party’s survival now depends on leadership that prioritizes unity over factionalism.
